18 parents attended our Baby Boot Camps in Dora and Double Springs! Four more parents came by and we were able to sign them up for our online Now What program. We had six parents on our waiting list as well, and we will be contacting them to sign up for online and in person parenting classes on board our mobile unit.
A few comments from the Boot Camps:
What was your favorite part about Baby Boot Camp?
“Knowing that I have a support system through these crazy times.”
“Having multiple topics covered in a one-day format.”
“Hearing everyone’s stories about their different experiences.”
“Meeting everyone and how friendly and personable everyone is.”
Topic suggestions that we plan to include next time were infant CPR, diaper changing, swaddling, toxic relationships, single motherhood, and things to worry about and not worry about once you bring baby home. Their favorite lessons were breastfeeding, SIDS, car seat safety, shaken baby syndrome, labor & delivery, and postpartum depression.
“The people were super nice and they gave me hope that I can go through this.” This is why we’re here…to offer support, hope, and education, all grounded in the love of Christ. We are looking forward to planning our next boot camps (most likely in February), and hopefully adding on a new Boot Camp in Winfield! We want to thank the Walker Area Community Foundation for making the education and staffing portion of our mobile unit project possible!
In addition to offering these services at our Jasper location, the PTRC will now be serving the Winston, Marion, and Fayette County areas with our new mobile unit.
We plan to start out with four locations, one per Friday, on a four week rotation. Once these location and times are established, more locations and days will be added on.
We are excited for this new endeavor, and would love to bring the mobile unit to your church or organization for a tour! Give Jenny Odom or Marilyn Byrd a call to set your tour up at 205-221-5860.
